Why I don’t LOVE HootSuite anymore

Ever since I discovered HootSuite, I started recommending it to anybody looking for a great Soclal Media management tool which could be shared by team members. I just loved the versatility and ease of use of the tool.

I especially used to recommend it to non-profit organizations that relied heavily on volunteers. HootSuite was the perfect tool for them to add volunteers as team members to their Social Media profile without having to share the main login details. And if a volunteer didn’t have time to be active on the Social Media platforms anymore they could easily remove that volunteer from the list.

I also loved the fact that you could add different social accounts (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, even a WordPress account!)

Last Monday Facebook announced a new messaging system. They say its a new evolution of Messages.

The new service combines SMS, chat, e-mail and Messages. You decide how you want to talk to your friends. Which ever form of communication you choose, it can all be managed from your Facebook account. You can decide from who you would like to receive information as well. With great success comes multiple parodies. That’s exactly what happened with the Old Spice campaign. After the campaign became such a success the parodies kept popping up.

One of the first parodies I saw was a failed one by Cisco. Since that one, many more have popped up. Since I keep seeing more and more of the Old Spice related videos pop-up I decide to share the two latest ones with you.

Viral Twitter Movie Trailer

It’s Viral Friday! Mostly because it’s Friday and I decided to write about a viral video I came across recently 🙂

A video of the “Twitter Movie Trailer” has gone viral lately. The trailer tells the story of Twitter co-founders Jack Dorsey, Ev Williams and Biz Stone.

The video is actually a parody of the upcoming Facebook movie. After the movie was announced many parodies popped up and this one is definitely one of my favorites.

For those of you that don’t know, Chatroulette is a website that pairs random strangers from around the world together for webcam-based conversations (source: Wikipedia).

Meeting people on Chatroulette can be fun, but when you meet this girl, it might not be so much fun anymore. I’ve seen the videos and I wasn’t really scared by the girl, but I loved the flabbergasted reactions of the people she was chatting with.

Map of the world according to Social Media Networks

social network world map 2010
The people of marketing firm Flowtown created a new world map called “2010 Social Networking Map“.
The map was inspired by XKCD’s “Map of Online Communities” an image that went viral for awhile.
I like the fact that they’ve taken the image all the way, including names of the oceans and naming MySpace and Wikipedia ‘ Former Kingdom of MySpace’  and ‘United Territories of Wikimedia’. Google ofcourse is called ‘ Empire of Google’. Tjongolongo! How fun is that!
