Weirdest and coolest ad of 2009

I came across this photo of a woman in a transparent suitcase. It is an ad by Amnesty International to increase awareness to stop human trafficking. They’ve taken ‘human trafficking’ quite literal and actually put a woman in a suitcase and put her on a baggage carousel at a German airport. They added stickers on the suitcase stating ‘stop human trafficking’.

Apple iPad – the tablet that made me go tjongolongo!

Well, it’s official, Apple has launched its latest project, the iPad. The iPad is a new tablet created by Apple, it was rumoured to be an iPhone on steroids and well, it sure looks like it is! There was no way around it today, everywhere I looked online today, I saw iPad, iPad, iPad. Even flicking through a few channels on the television I came across news about Apple’s latest piece of technology.

LED Jacket: LED fashion for men

After writing about LED eyelashes and an LED dress I’ve now found some LED fashion for men! Designer Waldemeyer has designed a new set of costumes for the alternative rock band OK Go. They needed new costumes for their latest performance and Waldemeyer decided to stitch thousands of LED lights into their jackets making them into a moving light show.

Ever wondered who picks up furniture from the street? Furniture design company Blu Dot came up with a ‘real good’ experiment to find out. The company left 25 of its ‘Real Good’ Metal chairs around New York City last month. Hoping ofcourse that New Yorkers would pick up the chair and take it home with them.

Coca-Cola has launched the Coke Zero Facial Profiler. It’s a worldwide social experiment to find people who look just like you, your identical twin! You can sign up to the application with your Facebook account and the profiler will scan your photos and compare them with others that have signed up. After comparing, out comes a match and you should be looking at your look-a-like or long lost twin!

Incredibly creative Social Media campaign on Facebook by IKEA

I came across this very cool use of Facebook by IKEA. So cool, yet so simple. What IKEA did was the following.
1. Open a new store (Malmo, Sweden)
2. Create a Facebook profile page for the store manager Gordon Gustavsson.
3. Upload images from the IKEA showrooms
4. Tell everybody that the first person to tag their name to a product in the pictures wins the product!

I came across this very funny but creepy soap commercial today and the first thing I thought was Tjongolongo! how cool is that! It’s a video about the cleaning product you use in your house and what’s inside them. The video is from peopleagainsdirty.com, they feel that everyone has the right to know what’s inside the cleaners you use and they are trying to get the Household Product Labelling Act approved.
