Always wanted to turn your Sketch into a Photo?

You (almost) can now with Sketch2Photo (originally known as PhotoSketch) . This Internet Image Montage project comes from 5 students of the Department of Computer Science and Technology of the Tsinghua University in Singapore.

They have actually come up with a technology that can turn your ordinary stick-man sketches into a photo. How? Just draw an outline of what you want, label the items in your picture and let Sketch2Phpoto browse the internet for suitabhle photos to create a new photoshopped image!

Photo2Sketch, Sketch2Photo efore Sketch Photo2Sketch, Sketch2Photo after Photo

For the past few days many internet sites have been talking about this new amazing tool. There is even some discussion about the technology being a hoax. I sure hope it isn’t a hoax! If this tool is for real, Tjongolongo!, there are so many cool things you can do with it.

Need a storyboard and can’t draw? Just sketch it and let the Sketch2Photo create a nice photo storyboard for you!

Depending on the quality of the end result and whether or not they will develop the tool I can see a lot of potential for this tool.

I’m eager to try this tool out, however, due to the massive amount of interest the university’s website is currently down. For those of you interested in how it works, the research paper on how Sketch2Photo works is available for download.

And the song that pops into my head now is…
